Review of LeLeLow.com by fallenrose

LeLeLow.com Never reviewed a fan site before. Well, we'll give it a try. First off, props on registering an entire domain just for a fansite. I've never seen it done before, but now I have, and I'm glad to see it. Shows you're dedicated.

The Splash page looks nice. The layout itself looks really good, too. Blog is recent. On a fansite. Amazing. Is this band a local band or is it a very famous band? I've honestly never heard of them before. Are there any interviews betwen 2006 and 2008? If so, they aren't listed on your "Interview" page. On your "Random Stuff" page, you spelled "Variety" wrong. Your "Lyrics" page is very nicely set up. It's very pretty as well. In order to see any of the pictures on the "Le Le Low Photo Gallery", you have to log in. I don't know if you did that on purpose, but it defeats the point of having the gallery if you have to log in to use it. Cute little Radio Blog. Everything just seems nice. I like what you've done with the site.

Thanks for the positive review. I'll have to check that typo out. Hot Hot Heat isn't "famous" but they are world-known. And as for the photo gallery, it's like that since the band donated TONS of pictures so that way we know who is viewing. Also, the articles and interviews don't have any later since then I have blog archives. But thanks a lot for the helpful review. I plan on making some big changes in the upcoming weeks but it will just be better *I hope, lol*

Review of ForDestiny.com by fallenrose

ForDestiny.com The layout doesn't look bad. The green is way too bright for my eyes, but that could just be because I'm looking at the layout on an LCD monitor as well. The text on the banner doesn't look very nice, though.

Blog is very recently updated. That's very good. You've been using proper grammar in your blogs as well. That's definitely a good thing. You're a very cute girl, and I didn't see any grammar/spelling problems on your "Feminin" page. I think it's interestin that you're writing a book. If you get free time sometime, you may want to look into posting a very short paragraph telling us what the book's plot will be. I like how you organized your "Photography" page. It looks very nice. You may want to update your screenshot on YourSite.nu since your ScreenShot is very out of date. But that's a very minor thing. The "Domain" page is very nicely organized as well. My god, I'm having problems finding problems with your site. Your "Hosting" page is very nicely organized as well. I might consider applying for hosting. I've been thinking about putting back up Fallen Rose again.

Review of Annen by fallenrose

Annen Maybe not the best time to review, but I'm in a reviewing mood. Anyways, I like the layout. It's very basic, but it's very easy to tell what's going on in the layout as well. Your blog doesn't use the best grammar, but it's your blog, so it's really not required. Your first paragraph of your "About Me" page isn't indented like the rest. A minor thing, but you could look into it if you wanted. It's awesome that you run. I don't. I'm horrible with exercise.

On your "Gallery" page, "description" is spelled wrong. :) You're a very cute girl. I'm assuming that, in your "Friends" page, some of those are pictures of your boyfriend? You may want to make a special section just for pictures of the two of you. Very cute icons. I like them. Very nice icon textures as well. You may want to look into expanding both of those sections when you get the time, though. On your site page, you have "npo" instead of "no". Under the "Credit" header, you have "I lot" instead of "A lot". Plugboard looks nice and I like the fact that you list other plugsites as well.

Review of Absolute Sweet Desire by fallenrose

Absolute Sweet Desire The splash page really isn't needed when you consider all of it. Do you do professional web layouts for companies? If not, you really don't need a separate website entirely for your portfolio. However, if you do, you may want to consider doing that separate website and then just linking it off of your main site. Otherwise, there's really no need to have four separate “areas” of your site. Especially when you consider that the layout for all four “sections” is exactly the same.

As for the layout itself, I can't say I'm very fond of it. It's not a bad layout, but it's not supreme, either. It'd honestly be better if the pictures were more blended than they currently are. Seeing all the square borders on the pictures doesn't give off a very “smooth” vibe. On your visitor page, it's not really needed to tell your visitors to tell you when they are using your stuff. I recommend taking that out completely and just saying “Send me any suggestions if you have any.” Otherwise it seems very elitist. Most of the quote graphics are kinda hard to read because of the very light text. Your premade signs are really cute, but who are all of the people? Your premade theme colors look nice. You're going to want “Default MYSPACE Layouts” for the link of your “Default Layouts”.

You may want to add more links to your “About Me” page. It's very empty right now. Your first sentence of your biography needs to be rephrased. It's a very long sentence that's very hard to understand. And why not make a “Favorites” page to add to your “About Me” section?

Blog is sorta-recently updated. At least twice a week would be best.

I like your portfolio, it's cute. I suggest you make your site a blog like you were talking about, but instead of making it just a blog, just make the “Index” page a blog, and have your “About Me”, “Portfolio Pages”, and “Visitor Stuff” branch off of that. :)

Review of TiffsBloggy by pearlillusions

TiffsBloggy Well I decided to stop by and give you a review since you were so nice to do so for me, first of all you have a very lovely layout, love the colors, and the drawing you have as your header.

I loved reading your about me section, because I love getting to know others, I also loved reading the *Featured Posts* section.

I do miss finding blogs who also have visitors content, so if I was to recommend changes, I'd say to add some visitors content.

I give your blog all in all a 4 out of 5 rating.

Review of carrieszczepanski.org by thetiff

carrieszczepanski.org Design: The header is really neat! I love the texture and the "ambiguity" of their skin. I'm not even sure if it's a drawing/rendering or an actual picture! And the reddish-yellow circular thing that looks like rose petals gives it a weird, creepy effect.

I am impressed by the use of the warm, autumn colors. It's very soothing.

However, there are many problems with the style and size of the fonts. First off, it's not consistent. The text under "THIS MOMENT", "BLOG ARCHIVES", and "SITE STATUS" does not work well with the other font (mainly used in the blog entries), and it throws the whole site off, completely.

The OTHER font, the "main" one that is used in your blogs is awfully small and it is not friendly to the eye, that reading your entries would take a lot more effort. It's a nice looking font, but it certainly shouldn't be used for long texts.

Content: Your blog is sufficient and most importantly, it has personality. You know what to write and you know <i>how</i> to write it. I like how the pictures are added in, it makes the blog less monotonous considering the size of your font.

Summary: You have a great layout, but the fonts are not doing you any justice. Your blog isn't lackluster, and I think you can attract more visitors if you were to change the size of your main font.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for the detailed review, and yes the font is kind of small, I'm just afraid if I change it, that it will mess up the layout itself, and I don't want that to happen.

Review of Tu RĂŞves by thetiff

Tu RĂŞves I will not review by design, since it is one of blogspots default layouts.

I will only review by content and overall impression.

Anyways, ProExercise took the words right out of my mouth.

The images that are posted are intriguing and beautiful (personally, I do enjoy looking at runway models and fashion spreads), but since all of them go before the text, I am not compelled to read anything, but to only look at said images.

By looking at your site, I did get a very broad idea of what the premise is, but like what Pro has mentioned, include the theme in the header so we can get a better idea.

Review of 79th Glasgow Coy. Boys' Brigade by Iggy

79th Glasgow Coy. Boys' Brigade I reviewed your other site, so I thought I would give you a quick over impression of this one as well.

I like to the overall layout and it is easy to navigate.

The only suggestions at the moment I have are

1. It appears that the title tag is the same on every page. I would change this foe SEO purposes and for when people bookmark pages.
2.Some of the scripts may not really be needed. For example, the Accessibility script causes some strange formatting on many of the pages when I use it.

Reply: "the accessibility script doesn't quite work" - What coding language are you using?

Posted: -1/2-/2008
Reply from Christopher

Thanks for your comments. I think I just created the pages as the same one and then just changed the content, and must have forgotten about the title tags! I'll change them as soon as I have a chance! I noticed that the accessibility script doesn't quite work, but the people who I designed the feature for want it kept. I'll see if I can get it to work properly.

Review of Jake1995 (UPDATED!) by thetiff

Jake1995 (UPDATED!) This should not be under "Personal Sites & Blogs"

This layout very is very old school and it's not catching my attention. It looks like a webpage made in, well, 1995...hence the name of the name site, perhaps?

There will still be a low rating had I reviewed it back in '95.

The front page does not look modern, this is because we are constructing the website..... Plus if you took a look at the gamezone Then maybe you might take back what you said.... LOL , Thanks for reviewing it anyway, jake

Review of Empyreus.Org by pearlillusions

Empyreus.Org What a lovely site, I just had to say that first before anything else, I loved scaning over your site and reading everything you had to say, which is a lot, and that's something I love so much :)

Your layout is just stuning, I love the single flower you used and the colors you chose, *Pinks and Greys* always go well together, and make everything look lovely but simple in a way.

I also love your Portfolio, the links that do work bring you to some beautiful artwork, I can't wait till you get everything up and running.

All in all I give your site a 5 out of 5 rating.

Review of dreamling.ca by pearlillusions

dreamling.ca Well hello there, I found someone whos from Canada, youre like a next door neighbor to me, because I live in buffalo which is right across the way, LOL. Anyway.

First of all I have to tell you I just love the layout you chose to use, it's beautiful, I love it when others chose to use the notebook style.

I can see you love to share photos, which is always a good thing, and you seem to get a lot of snow there like we do here.

The only thing I would recomend you to change about your site is try adding some visitors content it will get your readers or visitors to come back more often.

all in all I give your site a 4 out of 5 rating.

Review of GemmaAntonia.Org by pearlillusions

GemmaAntonia.Org First of all let me say that I love the new layout, very simple and clean, and I love the colors you chose to use, *pink and purple* are also two of the three of my favorite
colors.

You seem like you have a lot to say, which like I said in a different review I love reading others blogs, so that's a big plus.

The only thing I would say that needs a update *besides your beautiful layout* is you need to add some more visiters content, maybe some downloads, graphics and tutorials would be nice.

All in all I give your site a 4 out of 5 rating.

Review of what did i tell you? by ProExercise

what did i tell you? From your last post I see that it indicates on De. 4th it indicates "expect a new blog" this weekend.

Are you redesigning the entire site? Not to be too critical, but it could use a overhaul. The content is fine but a better layout might help. Right now it seems to need more structure for the user. I think just a simple change in Wordpress themes could go a long way.

Message me if you do update the blog and I will edit my review.

Posted: -1/2-/2008
Reply from Christopher

I had intended on blogging, but for some reason wordpress was being annoying and decided not to work. I will hopefully be redesigning it come February, as I'm a bit snowed under with work for the next month or so. You say that "it could use an overhaul", "a better layout might help" and "it needs more structure for the user" and yet you do not offer any suggestions. I don't see any point in saying something is bad if you're not willing to suggest an alternative.

Review of Geekish.nu by thetiff

Geekish.nu Design: This layout is very refreshing and it differs from the rest of the layouts I've been seeing on here. It's totally stylish (reminds of me layouts such as lookbook and nylon) and ridiculously adorable at the same time.

I love the use of large fonts and the pastel-like color combos; mix them together and you get a layout that is visually appealing. And it really is appealing to the eye, I can stare at your layout all day and get lost in them (cheesy, but it's true!).

Content: You've reminded us that you are a self-proclaimed "geek" as it is shown in your domain name (geekish.nu) and the "about me" section (geek), but imo, there is nothing "geekish" about you according to your blogs.

The name can be misleading and first time visitors (such as myself) may have different expectations of your site.

It is somewhat important that your domain name be consistent with your writings. Bring out your inner-geekdom and talk about the things (latest gadgets, technology, video games, comics, anime and the like) that makes you a "geek".

Summary: I am thoroughly impressed with your layout, though your blog is not as interesting/entertaining as the look of your site. My only advice is to spice the content up with some geek-related topics!

Review of CraigeEls.com by twistmyfate

CraigeEls.com The site had content which was nice. Pre made layouts never impress me too much, but at least you did credit your source. I do, however like the banner up at the top. It's not too flashy or simple.

I don't like how the gallery opens up in it's own window with an entirely different layout and even color scheme. Although it is a huge plus that you actually have a gallery.

The bio page should be a little bit longer. Since this is a website about an actor. Fill it up. Talk about him a lot. Let's hear his life story, along with some of the fantastic work he's done.

All and all the website is very polished.

I like it.

Review of Agmyst Studio by paulking

Agmyst Studio I like the overall design of the site. I especially like how you present items when they are selected. What type of coding are you using for that?

The top navigation is easy to use and find items quickly.

I see that you list your services, but I could not find any pricing, quotes, etc on the site. I see the contact form, but I wonder if listing this information would be of any benefit.

Lastly, I noticed that each page had the same title tag and meta information. I wonder if you modify the titles and meta information if you could get search engine traffic that is looking for the type of services you offer.

Update: Concerning your title and meta tags, maybe I can help. Are you using a CMS or designing each page manually? Also Wordtracker is great for determining key phrases to use in your title tags based on what people are searching for. The free version is at http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/

Hi, I just wanted to follow up with you about your title tags and meta information. How are you currently creating these?

Posted: -1/2-/2008
Reply from Taruto

The full images are displayed using a Javascript utility called Lightbox. People can get quotes from me by email (I should make that known). I'll see if I can find a way to make title/meta different on each page. Thanks for your nice review.

Review of Gossamer's Travels by paulking

Gossamer's Travels I like the originality of the concept. It may be silly but I can see it being addictive for some (myself included).

It might be fun to take suggestions from visitors on where Gossamer should travel next and maybe a few more posts from the toy monster himself would add even more to the originality of the site.

And lastly, a history of the Warner Bro.s cartoons that Gossamer has appeared in may help people who are not familiar with the cartoon character.

Reply -- Maybe instead of actually traveling to the destinations, you could just create fake backdrops of the destination. That could be even more interesting than taking a real trip.

Hi, I just was back at your site poking around. When can we expect the next update?

Posted: -1/2-/2008
Reply from Shy

Those are some wonderful ideas! I've been debating whether I should put the WB history to Gossamer or not. I think I'll go ahead and add it then. The only problem with suggestions on where to go is that I probably won't be able to travel to them. I actually even put that in the FAQ as to why. Thank you for the review!

Review of SawYouCry.net by pearlillusions

SawYouCry.net I think your site is beautiful, and it has a wonderful setup, I love all the skins you have, but I have to say the Smallvile *Lex and Clark Kent* skin is my favorite.

You seem to be a very sweet girl with a lot to say, which is great for me because I love to read others blogs.

You have a ton of visiters content, which means if anyone else checks out your site they will never be board.

And I had a great time looking around.

All in all I give your site a 4 out of 5 rating.

Review of Rin-Wendy by SEOGuy

Rin-Wendy I saw your site added to several people's favorites so I visited and thought I would give you some feedback from a SEO perspective. Hopefully it helps to increase your search engine exposure and rankings and ultimately attract more users to your site.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Title and Meta Tags
-------------------------------------------------------------

Navigating through your pages I noticed that the title tags are short and not always descriptive. This is what helps your site stand out in the SERPs (search engine results pages). You can see what your pages look like to search engine users by entering site:http://rin-wendy.com/ into Google (or others). As you can see the title tag does not always help the user identify the contents of the page. I would suggest using more detailed titles. It is a simple change and can prove to greatly increase search engine traffic.

I notice that you have pages that do not have meta description tags. I would suggest adding them. When you don't, search engines like Google simple throw in whatever description it thinks is the best, and this many times is not the best choice of description.

For example, a search in Google for "rin wendy" results in

**Welcome to Rin-Wendy.com
****Detailing the day to day happenings of Rin and Wendy

Which is the title of your home page followed by the meta description you actually provided.

However, a search for "Procrastinators Unite" results in

** Procrastinators Unite! | Rin-Wendy
*****Procrastinators Unite! Posted by: Rin filed under: tug-o-war. Tags: thoughts, *****tug-o-war. Procrastinators Unite! I will post it up tomorrow. Haha~

A search engine searcher may not click on this because they may be confused about the content of the page based on the listing.

A better description tag would be something like "Is procrastination healthy? A discussion of the pros and cons of procrastination - with a follow up tomorrow, or maybe next week"

(Side note: not to be picky, but "What is Procrastinate?" should be "What is Procrastination?" in the post).

You should treat meta description tags like mini advertisements for each of your pages. They should in a sentence or two accurately describe the content of the page and also entice users to visit.

I see you are using the "All in one SEO pack" plugin. I would recommend not too. I would recommend using something with more flexibility when it comes to defining meta information (thats if the plugin has not been updated since the last time I looked at it.

------------------------------------------------------------
PageRank
------------------------------------------------------------

PageRank is a measure from 0 to 10 that shows you how Google ranks your site compared to other sites on the Internet ( http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html ). It is also an important factor in determining how your pages will rank in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages). It is mainly determined by the number of quality links you have pointing to your web site.

Your current Page Rank is 0.

Is your site new? This usually explains the lack of Page Rank. I see you have some quality backlinks, so this should improve on the next PR update. If not, maybe the next section can help:

-------------------------------------------------------------
www vs. no www
-------------------------------------------------------------

May not sound like much, but this can drastically effect how well you do in the SERPs.

For example try entering site:rin-wendy.com into Google. You get 137 pages listed.

Now try site:www.rin-wendy.com. No pages are listed.

Now try the same thing with a site like Microsoft. site:www.microsoft.com and site:microsoft.com - both produce results.

The problem is that you domain redirects to rin-wendy.com, even if www.rin-wendy.com is entered. I see that the link from here to your site is www.rin-wendy.com but this redirects to rin-wendy.com. There is much discussion in SEO circles that this redirect can devalue an inbound link.
